Better English

A guide to better english for natives and advanced learners alike

What This Section Is About

Reaching advanced fluency is not a given in English, not even for native speakers. It requires a lot of cultural knowledge and a lot of reading, especially of challenging material.

I work with my husband often to improve his English (ESL), and in the past have worked as an English tutor (native English speakers). I fundamentally believe that anyone can improve their English, and that doing so opens a lot of doors that would otherwise be closed.

I'm considering writing an English book, and so think of this as a soft launch of that content. I have hundreds of ideas, which I hope you can enjoy.

Better English Introduction

The most fundamental part of getting to advanced fluency is to increase your cultural context and your vocabulary, especially less common definitions of words.

I think this is one of the only sections on the website that I can never refer to as "The Basics" in a true sense of the word. But, I will try to fill it with some kind of basic understanding of how to read advanced fluency, though I have no idea how to do that yet.
